The Cultural Association of Pyrgos–Panormos of Tinos announces the island’s first ever mountain race: Exomeria Trail Race. The Race will take place on the north side of Tinos on September 14th. ---- www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8lONSqL8mw
The race begins in historic Pyrgos where the first 400 meters will take runners through the village and passed the home of the famous Greek sculptor, Giannoulis Chalepas. The course will then trek through the village’s central square, passed the centuries old plane tree and next the house of the famous painter Nikiforos Lytras to end up on the northeast side of the village where the first stone path leads to the old mills.
The course will follow rural roads, trails and ancient streets through the village of Pyrgos and village Platia, continuing to the beach village of Rochari and Panormos and last through the abandoned village of Skamnidia Kato Marla. The Cycladic architecture, the chapels, the sea, the crags and the sun offer a unique experience for each runner that longs for something different in a race!

There will be 6 hydration stations that will provide: water, isotonic, fruit, biscuits and at the midpoint station in Panormos, energy gel.
Dressing rooms and free WC will be available for all.

Athletes participating in Exomeria Trail Race will have the opportunity to experience new places, views and challenges. The event will take place for the first time on Tinos and specifically in Pyrgos, the island’s largest village hosting the start and finish of the race. The total distance for the course is 20.5 km with an elevation change of 250 meters. Athletes can run the full course solo or with a relay teammate, in which case the first athlete will run the first 9.5 km and the second will run the last 11 km.

*Note: The runners are kindly requested to bring personal water bottles/ canteens. Otherwise, there will be water in plastic bottles.
At each hydration station and along the course there will be first aid volunteers and rescue teams. At the start/finish there will be two doctors and an ambulance. In case of emergency, two helipads will be ready to receive and transport patients by helicopter.
By participating, each athlete will receive a jersey displaying the logo of the race as a gift, and by finishing the race a commemorative medal.
Winners of the race will be the first 3men and the first 3womenfor the full 20.5 km distance. In the relay race, the top 3 teams will be awarded. An award will also be given to the first male and female Tinian runners of the 20.5 km. Lastly, the top 3 teams of athletes will be awarded. The winners’ awards and gifts will be special and will express Exomeria and its residents.
For all the athletes that do not place in the race, there will be a special drawing for a sporting gift(s), sponsored by Alamein Outdoors.
On finishing the race, qualified personnel will be available to assist athletes’ recuperation via massages.
With the end of the race, festivities prepared by the organization and including the volunteers, visitors, spectators and the residents of Exomeria will begin in honor of the athletes.
The income from athletes participation cost, will be used from the Cultural Association to continue founding actions and events in Exomeria Tinos!

From July 1st until the 28th of the month, the Cultural Association of Pyrgos - Panormos has created a voluntary program for cleaning the historical pathways of Exomeria Tinos, with the intent of bringing and hosting volunteers from Greece and abroad. The volunteers will have free accommodation in a specially designed room with all the amenities of a camp (lodge?).
