Heroes Ultra crosses the island of Crete from North to South, taking in a wide range of spectacular scenery.
The race starts at daybreak at Vosakou, a 17th century Monastery nestled in the Tallaia Mountains. It then heads towards Mt Ida (Psiloritis) crossing over the snow-covered Akolyta pass at an altitude of 1,920m before winding down the Amari valley towards Mt Kedros.
In the Amari, the course takes runners through a number of villages on the slopes of Mt Kedros, then heads west through olive-grove country before veering south towards the coast.
The course finishes at the beautiful beach of Peristeres where weary runners can take a dive or enjoy a warming shot of raki with their hot meal.
