Helsinki City Marathon is the biggest marathon event in Finland. Set yourself the challenge to run the 42,195-metre long route on the beautiful streets of Helsinki! The refreshment points, happy co-runners and the fresh sea breeze along the route will speed you all the way to the finish.

Route descriptions:

The route of the Helsinki City Marathon is strongly influenced by the sea and the parks. Almost half of the course follows the coast line of the Baltic Sea, and the course going through beautiful parks will guarantee you an unforgettable marathon experience.

Refreshment stations:

There are fifteen refreshment points along the route at which water and sports drink are served. At some of the refreshment points pickles and bananas are also served. In addition, you can find different refreshments at the finish.

Venue facilities:

Participants are able to store their valuables (e.g. phone, wallet, watch) for 5 EUR fee. Runners will have the opportunity to use the swimming stadium services free of charge.
Toilets are available at the Olympic Stadium. Also temporary toilets are located at the start area and along the route. Please note that the might be a queue at the toilets due to large number of participants.

Race numbers:

The race numbers must be picked up from the race office before Saturday 16.8. 1 pm.

Race office:

Helsinki City Marathon office is located at Töölön Kisahalli (in English Töölö Sports Hall), address: Paavo Nurmen kuja 1, during the event August 15-16, 2014. The office will be open:
Friday August 15, 2014 12:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday August 16, 2014 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Organizer has right to change opening hours)

All registered runners must collect his or hers race package (incl. timing chip, bib number, zip tie, safety pins, and the event t-shirt) by 1:00 PM on the race day. Please note that personal registration card must be presented at the race package pick-up. The registration cards will be send to mail addresses given while registering for the event.

Start:

The race starts an Saturday 16th of August at 3 pm in Mäntymäentie, in immediate proximity of the Paavo Nurmi statue. Runners must arrive latest at 2:45 pm.

Finish:

The finish is situated in the Olympic Stadium. After crossing the finish line, the timing chip will be removed from your shoe, you will receive a finisher’s medal, and can then proceed to the refreshment area.

If the participant pays the 10 € insurance fee at the same time with the entry fee, he/she is able to postpone the registration to next year’s event in case of a sickness or an injury.

Series:

There are different age classes for women and men: Men/Women open, W35, M/W40, M/W45, M/W50, M/W55, M/W60, M65 and M70 years. The runners are put to their own age groups automatically according to the year of birth.

Age limit:

Age limit for the marathon is 18 years.

Pacemaker:

If you are insecure about your own speed, you can follow our pace makers. These experienced runners are wearing flags with the finishing time and bright coloured vests and they will run the whole route with a steady pace. We have pace makers aiming to the following finishing times: 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30. Before the start, you will find the pace makers near the finishing time signs beside the start area.

Cancellation:

Helsinki City Marathon entry fees are non-refundable in every case. Participants can purchase a cancellation insurance (10 €) with the registration. The participantion can be postponed to the following year with the insurance and a valid medical certificate.

Please note: The age limit of the event is 18 years.

The marathon is situated in Helsinki, Finland. It was established in 1980 and is normally held in August. The marathon is run "in the settings of Baltic sea and open parks", and is considered to be one of the most beautiful marathons in the world.
All finishing participants get a Helsinki City Marathon -medal and the winners of the marathon receive a 3 500 EUR prize (both men and women).

Great way to see Helsinki!

Helsinki City Marathon route really is beautiful and it is a great way to get to know Helsinki and its surrounding areas.

Suomen suurin maraton, jossa potentiaalia kasvaa reilusti tapahtumaa uudistamalla. Reitti ja ajankohta suurimmat remonttikohteet.

Vuoden 2012 oli ensimmäinen maratonini ja tunnelma oli mahtava. Tapahtuma oli hyvin järjestetty ja reitti vaihteleva. Hieno tapahtuma!

I ran HCM in 2012. Quite easy marathon without big difference in altitude. Well organized and lots of spectators. Good atmosphere!
