One of the best marathon races in the region. City of Skopje has a lot of tourist attractions. Our title sponsor WIzz Air will award with voucher in amount of 20 EUR participants in marathon, half marathon and relay marathon race. More information on www.skopjemarathon.com
The marathon course is fast, flat, traffic free and safe. The run starts and finishes almost in the same place. The runners start their race in front of the Macedonian Parliament building. Every run kilometer of the race, passing through each part of the city and each neighborhood is a testimony of Skopje’s creation and growth. It all ends with a symbolic and victorious entry through the triumphal arch “Gate Macedonia”. The half marathon course is one lap, the marathon course is two laps.
There will be eight (8) refreshment stations with water and lemon along the course.
Before the start and after the event you have access to the changing facilities which are near the start area. First aid will be available in two places along the course, and throughout the course doctors in cars will follow behind the race. There will also be doctors in the finish area.

Small race - great for beginners!
Having run many half-marathons, this was my first attempt at a full marathon. The packet pickup was easy and quick. Getting to the starting point was too.
The three races (5K, half, full) all ran at the same time, and that didn't present a problem at all - the different distances were handled smoothly. There is one downside (only from a mental standpoint) of a two-lap course. At the halfway point of the marathon, when the half-marathoners went under the Macedonia Arch to the finish line, and the marathoners trekked on for another lap.
With only about 130 people running the full marathon, the race got VERY lonely after the midway point. But if solitude is your thing, it's perfect!
There were scattered onlookers all along the route, and some were quite supportive. While that was much appreciated (especially over the last few miles), it didn't come close to matching up with the crowds lining some of the larger races.
Still, for a beginner, this is a good race, as there was a wide range of ability in each of the races, and the smaller scale of the event meant less of the intimidating elements at the more popular ones!
